Well, there is some good news and some bad news.
I will start with the bad.
Somehow last thursday I managed to give myself food poisoning, Im pretty sure it was some leftover chicken I had for lunch, anyway I was racing a local stroke and stride that night. By the time I was standing on the start line my stomach was pretty sore, I thought it was just nerves. But it just got worse. During the run my stomach was so sore once I crossed the finish line I just wanted to keep running straight to the port o loos, but the funny thing was I couldnt beacuse I was first accross the line and everyone was watching me and the commentator wanted to talk to me etc.....
So yeah spent most of that night in the bathroom, dropped a few kgs over night....
The next couple of days I rested up and just took it easy.
I am happy to say I am feeling much better now and I will never ever eat chicken leftovers again.

Some more bad'ish news is that my tendonitis has flared up again, it is quite painful to run on. But the good news is I have a clear pathway to manage it and I know now that it is not going to cause any long term damage, which is a huge weight off my mind.

It is still beautiful and sunny here, actually getting quite hot at night. I have started having cold showers before bed so I can get some sleep!

Into taper mode now (well I kinda started last week when I got sick).
Leaving for Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday. Wow not long now! eeek.
My goals for the race are to have a good swim and bike. To run my pace, which means to go out comfortably and see if I can pick up the pace during the run and finish strong. It looks like it will be hot, mid to high 20's, so not super hot but enough that it will be a factor.
Oh, I cant forget my other big goal.... win some prize money! hehe

Hope you are well and its not too cold in NZ.

Take care - Teresa.
