Operation! Is it water on the knee?
No, i'ts Chronic Compartment Syndrome!
So, I got a phone call on Tuesday saying my surgery could be moved forward to Thursday, of course I jumped at the chance to get it done as soon as possible. It was also quite good as I didn't really have much time to think about it, so I am sitting, well lying here right now thinking "wow" it's actually done! It's all over, and the only way to go from here is up!
The surgery itself went really well, my surgeon Stu Walsh was awesome and all the nurses I had were lovely which made the experience a whole lot easier.
The worst part was probably when I attempted to get up for the first time this morning. I had not been up since 10ish the day before and I had not eaten any breakfast yet. So we were attempting to get to the bathroom but after about 5mins sitting on the side of the bed with my feet touching the floor I started to get really dizzy and clammy and started seeing stars then felt like throwing up, luckily I managed to lie back down quickly and took a few deep breaths before anything bad happened.
The nurses assured me it would pass, which it did and I am now at home on my comfey bed with my gorgeous parents looking after me, I don't know what I would have done without my dad, he has been carrying me everywhere. I have crutches but to be honest I am not sure you are supposed to use them when both my legs are stuffed!
Anyway, I am feeling really positive about my recovery and feel so lucky that it has all gone so fast and smoothly. Also I just want to thank everyone for their kind words and wishes, it means so much to me to know I have such great friends and awesome support.
