Kinloch NZ Sprint Champs and Aussie Sprint Champs

Posted by Teresa Adam on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, In : Triathlon Updates

Before I start on the races I feel the need for a quick update about the legs. I am super happy to say that after quite a lot of trial and error over the summer months and a lot of blood, sweat and tears from my amazing support team we have managed to find a formula that works for me, with the aim being consistent, smart run training – now it’s just a matter of keeping the ball rolling in the right direction, slowly but steadily.

The idea was to train through these last two races (and ...

First update of 2012!

Posted by Teresa Adam on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, In : Triathlon Updates

Here's a quick update for this weekend in Kinloch and my next few races coming up.

I am super excited to be lining up to race the NZ Sprint Nationals down in Kinloch this Sunday. The last few months for me have been a little up and down with the running. I have been having issues with my calves and after a lot of experimenting to learn what I can do and also what I need to eliminate I have finally found some consistency. My coach and I have devised a plan which will have me building up nice...

Auckland World Cup

Posted by Teresa Adam on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, In : Triathlon Updates

I find it hard to sit down and write about a race straight away, there are just too many post race emotions to filter and make sense of, so after a few days of reflection I now feel able to write about my race on Sunday.

Just quickly I want to look back a few months to when I was feeling like I was at the bottom of the world and nothing seemed to be going right. I can now be proud of myself for the attitude I took when I just stuck my head down and got on with the things I could, like improv...

Seoul ITU Premium Asian Cup

Posted by Teresa Adam on Monday, May 16, 2011, In : Triathlon Updates
Yesterday I raced to a 7th place finish in Korea. It was my first race in almost 7 months! And only 3 months after surgery and with only 8 weeks of training under my belt. So to say I was a little unsure how it would feel would be an understatement. But in saying that I did go into the race with some clear goals and steps to get me through the race.

The race course and conditions were rather challenging. The swim was held in a river through the city I think anyway, because forgive me if I am ...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Posted by Teresa Adam on Saturday, January 1, 2011, In : Triathlon Updates
2010 was great year for me, I had some fun times and met some awesome people.
It is hard to believe 2011 is here already!
Training has been going well, I have been enjoying all my sessions.
My first race for the year is the Whangamata Contact Tri Series race on the 3rd of January - it will be good to see how I am going as this will be my first race since the World Champs in September.
It is a pretty challanging course with a hilly bike and half of the run on sand. I struggled on the run las...

World Champs!

Posted by Teresa Adam on Sunday, September 12, 2010, In : Triathlon Updates
I was looking forward to this race in more ways then one. Partly because I would be going home after this race and mostly because I had quietly been feeling good in training and could not wait to go and see how hard I could really go!
I love to race because that is when there is no holding back, nothing to save myself for.

Race day dawned wet, cold and miserable. Start time was 10.45am.
It was a wetsuit swim, luckily we had been wearing our wettys in Germany for the last few weeks so I w...

Lausanne

Posted by Teresa Adam on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, In : Triathlon Updates
My overseas adventure continued with a drive to Lausanne, Switzerland on Thursday. It took around 4hrs in a van chocka with bikes, luggage and people. We made it just in time for breifing at 5pm which was held in the Olympic Museum! I felt pretty lucky to be there!
I like Lausanne it feels very much like Wellington waterfront and has helped suppress the feeling of unease I have had by being in landlocked Europe!

Race day (Saturday) was beautiful. Clear blue skies and temp in the high 20'...

Tizzy World Cup

Posted by Teresa Adam on Monday, August 9, 2010, In : Triathlon Updates
Well we arrived at the race hotel in Tizzy at 1am Friday morning. I think I am starting to get the hang of this travel thing... apart from the staying well, I always seem to get a little sick after travelling. But lucky it didnt get any worse than a sore throat and runny nose! The town really loves this race. They spent all day friday setting up the finish chute and race course just below our hotel only to have it all blown down in a massive thunder storm that afternoon, it was quite scary, i...

Hamburg WCS

Posted by Teresa Adam on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, In : Triathlon Updates
What a tough race!
I had a good swim, came out near the front, then out of transition I got stuck behind some girls and a split happened.
So I put my head down and tried to bridge the gap. Looking back now I think I worked way to hard in those first few laps and I am not yet strong enough to do that.
Anyway, so I was not feeling great on the bike, which is weird as I usally feel quite strong and can sit in the bunch. But my back and quads were seizing and I couldnt push the pedals. So when one...

Des Moines World Cup

Posted by Teresa Adam on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, In : Triathlon Updates
Well I had great weekend in Iowa! The weather was crazy tho, thunder storms every night/morning, then it would clear and become really hot and humid.
Race day dawned just the same. The ages group races in the morning had to be shortened due to the weather, but by the time we started at 12.30 it had stopped raining, and started heating up.
I had no idea how I would go during the race. The days in Des Moines leading into the race, I had been feeling very average. But I knew all I could do was my ...

Mooloolaba

Posted by Teresa Adam on Friday, April 2, 2010, In : Triathlon Updates
Had a great time in Mooloo. Travelled over a week before the race to try get used to the heat, but when we got there it was not very hot due to a cyclone just up the coast...
But did some good training/exploring and felt great going into the race.
The race itself was very tough. I swam very well, coming out of the water around 5th. Had a good transition into the front pack and tried to just sit in and not do too much work.
Onto the run and I was feeling good and comfortable for the first lap......

Wellington

Posted by Teresa Adam on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, In : Triathlon Updates
2nd NZ U23, 6th Oceania U23, 14th Overall.

Had a good race in Wellington. Swam well, came out with the lead pack but again had a bad swim/bike transition, so ended up in the chase pack. But rode smart and had a great run. Had lots of energy and felt good the whole race apart from my feet which went completely numb about 2/3k into the run, weird......

So flying to Mooloolaba on Saturday for a week long heat camp then racing on Sunday 28th in my first World Cup!

Fun times ahead!

Posted by Teresa Adam on Thursday, March 4, 2010, In : Triathlon Updates
I raced Takapuna super sprint a few weeks ago,  it wasnt my best race, I finished 2nd u23 and 8th overall.

Next weekend I am racing in Wellington, it is the National and Oceania Champs and also the first of two qualifing races for worlds. So its a pretty big deal. I will be racing in the elite womens race in the u23 category, to qualify fr worlds I need to be the first kiwi in the top 8.

Then two weeks after Wellington I will be Racing in Mooloolaba, Aus. It is the second qualifying race for w...

moving on up

Posted by Teresa Adam on Sunday, January 3, 2010, In : Triathlon Updates
Well, what can I say? Today was a big step up to the standard distance, and man was it long! def felt the tour in my legs. It was also very hot and really tough course, half the run was on sand, it was rather hard to get my head around. I was going well untill the run... the last 2 laps of it (there were 3 laps..) I would rather not talk about...
But I finished the race! which was the main aim!
Also really enjoyed wearing my new Performance Bicycle Tuning race suit! very comfortable.

Im broken :(

Posted by Teresa Adam on Monday, November 9, 2009, In : Triathlon Updates
Raced the first Stroke and Stride on Wednesday night, 500m/5k. Had a good swim and happy with my solid run to finish 3rd. Not so happy that I hurt my calf somehow and now I can't run for a week or so. But thats ok! Looking on the bright side I get to swim and bike more....
Quite good timing to get my first real injury (sort of)
So physio and massage for me.
Oh and also discovered yoga? Was a skeptic, now a convert!

19 - 10 - 2009 Training and Updates from this date.

Posted by Teresa Adam on Sunday, November 8, 2009, In : Triathlon Updates
Whoa, two weeks turned into four weeks... Here is my late race report from World Champs.

Overall I was pleased with my performance in the World Champs race. I had a strong swim, leading the entire 750m.
I made an early break on the bike, with one other competitor. We managed to maintain the break over the first two laps; however we were caught by the following group during lap three. I felt strong on the bike and comfortable riding in the pack.
Both transition 1 and 2 went very well.
I was disap...

Hopefully I can get back into training soon. Next goal is to qualify for the U23 World Champs.
