Des Moines World Cup

Well I had great weekend in Iowa! The weather was crazy tho, thunder storms every night/morning, then it would clear and become really hot and humid.
Race day dawned just the same. The ages group races in the morning had to be shortened due to the weather, but by the time we started at 12.30 it had stopped raining, and started heating up.

Still alive.. just!

Well, there is some good news and some bad news.
I will start with the bad.
Somehow last thursday I managed to give myself food poisoning, Im pretty sure it was some leftover chicken I had for lunch, anyway I was racing a local stroke and stride that night. By the time I was standing on the start line my stomach was pretty sore, I thought it was just nerves. But it just got worse. During the run my stomach was so sore once I crossed the finish line I just wanted to keep running straight...

Things I have learned....

Here are a few random things I have learned while I have been living in Boulder...

- keep right instead of left
- no the toilet is not blocked, it is supposed to be full to the top with water
- if asked "are you from Australia?" reply with "are you from Canada?"
- no more than 2 per lane in public swim lanes (not an actual rule, just somthing they seem to do)
- squirrels are cute
- squirrels have rabies (not sure if this is true)
- fake tans and boob jobs are the norm
- always order the small
