Whoa, two weeks turned into four weeks... Here is my late race report from World Champs.
Overall I was pleased with my performance in the World Champs race. I had a strong swim, leading the entire 750m.
I made an early break on the bike, with one other competitor. We managed to maintain the break over the first two laps; however we were caught by the following group during lap three. I felt strong on the bike and comfortable riding in the pack.
Both transition 1 and 2 went very well.
I was disappointed with my run but I knew that it was going to be the biggest challenge. My coach and I realize that I have yet to find my running legs, as I do not have a running background to draw on and have only been running seriously for about 18 months.
Since returning home I have had a medical screen and have found that my iron levels are extremely low, which explains
my lack of energy in the race. I have also had a muscle balence test and have discovered some areas of weakness
that I will need to strengthen in order to imporve my running.
I have had a few weeks break with an ongoing cold, but with the help of some iron suppliments I am ready to get back into serious training.
